Day by day
A shape, not a schedule. Every one of these is rewritten around the people travelling it.
Arrive, Phuket or Krabi
Met at the plane, driven to the pier, on the water inside the hour. First night on the quiet east coast of Koh Yao Noi, where the tide goes out for a kilometre and the light does something absurd at six.
Phang Nga Bay, before anyone
Out at first light with a kayak on the deck. Into the hongs — the collapsed cave-roofs inside the limestone — while the bay is still glass. Back for a late breakfast; the day boats pass on their way in as you are going the other way.
Koh Yao Noi, on land
Rubber tappers start at four in the morning and are finished by nine; you can go with them. Afternoon on a bicycle through the rice, or nothing at all.
South, to the far islands
A long, slow run south. Lunch cooked on the boat and eaten off it. Swimming where the chart shows nothing.
Railay and the cliffs
Beaches reachable only by boat, under three hundred metres of limestone. Climbers on the wall above; you on the sand below, or on the wall too if you would like.
Back, slowly
North on the ebb, with a stop wherever the water looks right. Late flight or one more night — we would argue for one more night.
